  Dr. Thomas Wren
Professor of Leadership Studies
Jepson School of Leadership Studies at the University of Richmond
 
 

A historian and legal scholar, Dr. Wren brings a unique perspective to his positions as professor and associate dean for academic affairs in the Jepson School of Leadership Studies at the University of Richmond. Wren is serving as interim dean of the Jepson School.

At the university and national levels, Wren has contributed to the development of leadership studies as a significant arena for scholarly pursuit. He has served as editor of the Journal of Leadership Studies. Wren has been an instrumental member of the Jepson faculty, having led a university task force on undergraduate education and also led the Jepson School as interim dean from July 2006 - July 2007. Wren also serves as one of  the three series editors of the forthcoming Jepson Studies in Leadership, and is co-editor of three volumes in the series.

Wren, an expert on Virginia history, has written extensively on such subjects as James Madison and the Virginia courts. Research interests include the roles of leaders and followers, leadership education and the intellectual history of leadership. 

After graduating summa cum laude from Denison University, Wren went on to earn his law degree from the University of Virginia, a master’s degree from George Washington University, and a second master’s degree and doctoral degree from the College of William and Mary.
