Assistant Professor of Leadership Studies
Jepson School of Leadership Studies at the University of Richmond

Dr. Williamson joined the Jepson School of Leadership Studies at the University of Richmond in 2005 as an assistant professor of leadership studies.

Williamson received the American Political Science Association's 2005 Harold D. Lasswell Award for the best doctoral dissertation in the field of public policy. His dissertation explored the relationship between sprawl and American civic life and suggested a model for applying political theories to concrete public policy debates. At the Jepson School, Williamson integrates this kind of thinking about government, social studies and public policy with the study of leadership.

His research interests include the evaluation of political and economic institutions; contemporary social movements, particularly those pertaining to economic justice; and theories of social change.

In addition to a doctorate in political science from Harvard University, Williamson holds a master’s degree in religion with a concentration in Christian ethics from Union Theological Seminary, New York, and a bachelor’s degree in religion and history from Brown University.
