  Dr. Ana Mitric
Assistant Professor of Leadership Studies
Jepson School of Leadership Studies at the University of Richmond

A scholar of English literature, Dr. Mitric joined the faculty of the Jepson School of Leadership Studies at the University of Richmond in 2004.

Her dissertation, “From Good Society to Good Form: Civility and National Identity in English Fiction (1790-1815, 1915-1945),” blended the study of literature with an examination of citizenship, collectivity and civil policy. Though now focusing on courses in leadership studies, Mitric has conducted courses in the English department at the University of Virginia on concepts of the modern novel, the British novel after modernism, country-house fiction and Booker Prize winners.

Her research interests extend to nationalism and national identity, social crisis and war, and representations of class, authority, influence and leadership in literature. Her teaching interests lie in the history and theory of the novel, feminist studies and political philosophy and critical theory.

Mitric holds a doctorate in English and a master’s degree in English and modern studies from the University of Virginia. Mitric also has a M. Phil. in English studies from the University of Oxford.
