  Dr. Charles Johnson

Dr. Johnson was a senior fellow at the Jepson School of Leadership Studies from 2005-2007 and professor of art history, emeritus at the University of Richmond. Johnson  worked on a number of art publications and the development of courses that combined music, art and leadership themes.

Johnson’s tenure as art historian, professor, department chair and member of University of Richmond Trustee Committees lent unique perspective and depth to the Jepson School program and the Keck Initiative in particular. His scholarly expertise includes the following periods in art history: the Italian Renaissance, the Northern Renaissance, the Mannerist and the Baroque periods and 18th. century studies. He has traveled and taught or lectured in numerous countries from Britain to the Czech Republic to New Zealand and Australia and Ecuador and has received numerous teaching awards. Johnson has been active in the Richmond community.

Johnson holds a bachelor of music education degree from Westminster College, a master of sacred music degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York and a doctorate in Comparative Arts from Ohio University.
