Dr. Joanne Ciulla Professor of Leadership Studies Jepson School of Leadership Studies at the University of Richmond |

One of the founding faculty members of the Jepson School of Leadership Studies at the University of Richmond, Dr. Ciulla holds the Coston Family Chair in Leadership and Ethics. Ciulla teaches courses in ethics, critical thinking, conflict resolution and leadership in international contexts. Drawing heavily on the fields of art history and leadership studies, she co-teaches a course entitled Artists and Leaders with art historian Charles Johnson. She lectures all over the world and consults on ethics and leadership programs with universities, businesses and government agencies. Her research on ethics and the philosophy of work has produced several critically acclaimed books, including The Ethics of Leadership (2002) and The Working Life: The Promise and Betrayal of Modern Work (2000). Her most recent book, Honest Work: A Business Ethics Reader, was published in 2006. Additionally, Ciulla serves on the editorial boards of The Business Ethics Quarterly, Leadership and The Leadership Quarterly. Ciulla is Editor of The New Horizons in Leadership Series. She also served on the editorial board of the four-volume Encyclopedia of Leadership. Ciulla earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy from the University of Maryland, a master's degree in philosophy from the University of Delaware and a doctorate in philosophy from Temple University.
